Every person has the ability to save energy in everything that they do.
Saving energy is as simple as:
Turn out the light when you leave a room.
Buy energy-efficient light bulbs.
Wash your clothes in cold temperatures, instead of warm or hot.
Only run your dishwasher when you have a full load.
Turn the temperature down on your hot water heater.
Turn the temperature down on your refrigerator. Refrigerators account for about 20% of a home's overall electricity use.
Wear an extra layer of clothing when you are at home, so that you can trim off a couple degrees on your heater's thermostat.
Change the filter in your heating and cooling units on a regular basis.
Wash your outdoor central heat and air unit with a water hose at least once every season. Clean dirt and grass from the unit to improve efficiency.
Turn down the brightness on your television set.
Clean the lint filter and exhaust vents on your clothes dryer at regular intervals.
Buy Energy-Star compliant electrical products.
Buy products made locally or in your region.
